The Fluoro Surf® FG-3000 Series fluorinated moisture-proof coatings, developed by Japan Fluorotechnology Co., Ltd., use acrylic resins with perfluoroalkyl side chains as their main component.
This resin forms a film with the lowest surface tension among fluoropolymers, providing excellent water repellency, oil repellency, and electrical properties.
Furthermore, it can be copolymerized with other unsaturated monomers. By selecting suitable comonomers, the solubility in various solvents, film strength, and other properties can be adjusted to meet diverse application requirements.
In addition, the Fluoro Surf® FG-3000 Series uses fluorinated solvents as the solvent base.
Unlike conventional organic solvents, fluorinated solvents are non-flammable (non-hazardous), low in toxicity, and mild in odor. They are not classified as hazardous substances under regulations such as the Industrial Safety and Health Act, PRTR Law, or Fire Service Act, allowing them to be used safely and freely. However, the raw material cost of fluorinated solvents is relatively high.
The Fluoro Surf® FG-3000 Series can also be customized according to customer requirements, such as adjusting resin concentration or selecting solvents with different drying speeds, allowing users to choose the most suitable specifications for their manufacturing process.
Designed specifically for moisture-proof, waterproof, and acid-resistant applications in printed circuit boards (PCBs), the Fluoro Surf® FG-3000 Series demonstrates excellent moisture resistance and insulation performance. It performs effectively as an insulating, moisture-proof, or anti-corrosion coating for PCBs and electronic components.
In contrast, conventional water- and oil-repellent coatings often have poor mechanical strength and crack easily under thermal stress, limiting their film thickness to a maximum of about 1 μm (with 2% resin concentration).
Moisture and humidity are major causes of PCB degradation; therefore, moisture-proof coatings are widely used across various PCB applications.
When selecting a moisture-proof material, it is important to choose one suitable for the specific application and usage environment.
In particular, room-temperature fluorinated coatings not only offer superior moisture resistance but also possess many other excellent properties, making them promising for a wide range of applications.
When considering the introduction of a moisture-proof coating, attention should also be given to whether the product provides additional functional benefits beyond simple moisture protection.
